With Exchange 2003 no longer being supported as of April 2014, we are seeing an explosion of small businesses making the decision to move to Office 365 and Exchange Online from Exchange 2003. For partners and customers who want to save both time and money by automating the process of migrating to Office 365, UserActivation has proven to be an extremely simple way of completing the job. Now migrating from Exchange 2003 to Office 365 using UserActivation is easier than ever.
Previously, UserActivation would only create users in Office 365 that you added manually, and did not support distribution groups and aliases. This, in turn, left the user do these steps manually in Office 365 — after the migration.
Now, UserActivation automates this process and will create users and migrate distribution lists and aliases when migrating from Exchange 2003.
In order to accomplish this, there are two things that need to be done on the user’s side first:
1. Run an export script on the active directory server.
2. Upload the exported .csv file to UserActivation.
Once this file is uploaded, you will have the ability to edit and finalize your user list. UserActivation will then automatically create those users, distribution lists, and mailbox aliases we discovered in Office 365. This makes the process of moving to Office 365 from Exchange 2003 even faster and easier, allowing BitTitan partners to make more money on Exchange 2003 to Office 365 migrations.
